Opportunities within Engineering, Manufacturing, and among Spartan's various support functions typically occur on an annual basis. These opportunities normally exist at one or more of our 3 manufacturing locations and occasionally at our Corporate Services Center in St. Louis. The following positions are among those most likely to exist at any given time:

  • Launch Engineer
  • Product Engineer
  • Quality Engineer
  • Manufacturing Engineer

Following is a brief description of these positions:

Launch Engineer:

This position directs and coordinates various activities involving the customer, Spartan manufacturing groups and suppliers to achieve a successful product launch. This begins from the time Spartan receives a customer purchase order through 90 days following start of production. This position works closely with Manufacturing Engineers, Advance Quality Engineers and Program Managers to assure that both the customer's and Spartan's timing, quality, cost, delivery and production objectives are achieved. Individuals with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and several years of demonstrated success in launching products for an automotive OEM supplier are likely candidates for this position.

Product Engineer:

This position ensures the successful transition from the launch mode of a part into actual production. This position works closely with Launch Engineers, Production, and Production Support Leaders and the Quality function to provide seamless engineering support for products transitioning from the launch phase to the production phase of the product lifecycle, ensuring products are manufactured to customer demand and meet internal metrics. This position will typically have responsibility for several production parts. This position is typically a feeder position for those who desire to continue their career as a Launch Engineer. Individuals with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and related experience with an automotive OEM supplier are likely candidates for this position.

Manufacturing Engineer:

This position seeks to achieve reductions in manufacturing costs through optimization of equipment, processes and operating practices. This position employs various techniques such as lean manufacturing, Kaizen and analytical problem solving in identifying process inefficiencies and takes the lead in justifying, recommending and implementing improvements. This position maintains a strong "Shop Floor" focus interfacing closely with plant operating and maintenance groups as well as with Launch, Product and Quality Engineering functions. Individuals with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering and related experience are likely candidates for this position.

Quality Engineer:

Advanced Quality Engineers coordinate advanced production quality planning activities (APQP) and ensure systems are compliant and effective. This position works closely with other quality, manufacturing, Launch and Product Engineering functions in supporting the launch of new products. Customer Quality Engineers work very closely with manufacturing personnel, Launch and Product Engineering functions in supporting existing quality systems and addressing quality issues. This position has routine interaction with customer and supplier representatives and supports the quality auditing and corrective action processes for production parts. Individuals with an Engineering or other technical degree and experience with an automotive OEM supplier are likely candidates for this position.
